Elicro The motorised sail garden parasol, made in Italy

Elicro is the motorised sail garden parasol in waterproof fabric, entirely made in Italy: it opens in 60 seconds, rotates 360°, and closes on its own when the wind exceeds the threshold. Enjoy an afternoon by the pool or dinner on the terrace, with shade that follows the sun. Thanks to the integrated solar panel, there are no cables to run and you can place it wherever you like.

  • 12V motor and solar panel: 10-12 cycles of autonomy, emergency USB-C charging
  • Patented CTR system: canopy always taut during opening, closing and at rest
  • 360° rotation, 12 positions every 30°: precise orientation for any sun exposure
  • Sail garden parasol with standard anemometer: automatic closure when gusts are detected

Product overview

Solar-powered

The first solar-powered motorised shade sail umbrella

Elicro eliminates the first concern that comes to mind when choosing a motorised umbrella: finding a power outlet. It runs on sunlight and you can place it wherever you like, in the middle of the garden or in the furthest corner of the terrace, and from there it opens, closes and recharges autonomously. So the only thing you need to do is choose where to sit.

Key features

Lightweight

Suitable for terraces too

A shade sail umbrella designed specifically for terraces, lighter by design at 200 kg, so the flooring can support it without any issues.

Technology

Patented CTR system

A calibrated spring keeps the fabric perfectly taut at all times, and the constant tension protects it from tearing.

Durability

Tested for 13 years

The motor and mechanics are tested over 10,000 opening and closing cycles — approximately thirteen seasons of daily use.

Fabric

Purishade® waterproof

Treated fabric that repels rain and blocks the sun: UPF 50+, water column 400 mm, Oeko-Tex certified.

Orientation

Rotates 360°, 12 positions

Unlock, rotate the structure towards the sun and lock again: twelve positions every 30°, in just a few seconds.

Safety

Wind resistant

Withstands winds up to 25 km/h and closes automatically thanks to the included anemometer.

Craftsmen of the 21st century

We designed it in-house, in our Research and Development department, so that beneath the shade sail there remains all the space for the table, chairs and everyone who moves around.

And behind that clean, essential line are the hands of those who build it in our workshop, one at a time — the way you do things you truly care about.

FAQ

FAQ

Medium terrace (6–7 m per side) and a modest budget: go for the 3.6×3.6 m. Irregular space or architectural constraints: opt for the trapezoidal version 4×3.65 m. Large garden or pool area where you want to cover 8–10 people: choose the 4×4 m. For every configuration, you will need approximately 1 metre of clear space beyond the diagonal of the shade sail, plus a free rotation radius of at least 3.5–4 m around the central pole.

Yes, with a ballasted base. The weight of the system falls within the load limits of a standard compliant floor slab, making it perfectly suitable for British terraces and apartment rooftop spaces alike.

No. Elicro is classified as mobile and removable garden furniture, not as a building structure. No planning permission is required. If you live in a block of flats, we recommend informing the building manager and checking the internal regulations. In areas with landscape or heritage restrictions, it is advisable to check with your local authority.

Only the floor anchor base is included. The ballast base is available as a separate purchase. Ballast weights are not included (4× 50×50 cm slabs = 80 kg total), and are only required if you choose the ballasted base option.

The 5W/18V solar panel charges the built-in 5.2Ah lithium battery. With a full charge, you get approximately 10–12 complete open and close cycles. In summer, just 2–3 sunny days are enough for a full recharge. During winter or overcast days, simply use the USB-C connector for a direct charge. There's no need to connect any fixed wiring to your electrical system.

With the shade sail open, the structural limit is approximately 20–25 km/h (Class 1, fresh breeze — Beaufort 3). The anemometer is factory-set at 15 km/h to trigger automatic closing before reaching the structural limit. With the shade sail closed, the frame can withstand Class 3–4 winds, up to approximately 50–60 km/h. The anemometer is a helpful safety aid — we still recommend keeping an eye on the weather forecast, especially in British gardens where conditions can change quickly.

CTR stands for Constant Tension Release. It is the system that keeps the rope tension constant throughout the entire opening and closing stroke — not only when the shade sail is fully open. A spring calibrated to 114N and a jam-free POM winding shaft work in perfect sync. The result: the fabric neither billows nor slackens during movement, eliminating a common flaw found in all competing products.

Yes, by purchasing the optional WiFi Bridge. Through the app, you can open, close, schedule times and receive notifications. Compatible with Alexa and Google Home. Without the WiFi Bridge, the included radio remote control works up to 20 metres in open field.

The fabric has a water column rating of 400 mm and is treated to be waterproof. However, Elicro is not a fixed rain canopy: during heavy or persistent rainfall, we recommend closing the shade sail to avoid overloading the structure. In the event of a storm, always close it before the heavy rain arrives.

No. Elicro requires at least 2 people for installation. Certain steps — such as lifting the joint (~30 kg) and inserting the winding shaft — cannot be carried out safely by one person alone. Difficulty: 2.5/5. No specialist electrical or mechanical knowledge is needed, but good practical skills are essential, along with an Allen key set, two ladders, and around 4 hours.

The floor-anchored base is included in the price and requires 4 holes drilled into the ground using M12 wall plugs: it is more stable, less bulky, and keeps the height at 240 cm. The ballast base is not included and requires no drilling: ideal for renters or anyone who wants flexibility, but it takes up 110×110 cm of space and requires 4 ballast slabs purchased separately. In both cases, all fixings are included in the packaging.

The rotation is manual: turn the stainless steel pin 90° to unlock, rotate the entire frame in the direction you want, then lock it back in place. You have 12 positions available, one every 30°, covering a full 360° rotation. It's not automated, but it only takes a few seconds.

No, it's not mandatory. Elicro can stay installed all year round within its operating limits (–10°C / +50°C). However, winter removal is recommended in areas with harsh or very windy winters: in just 20 minutes, two people can remove the winding shaft and the fabric and store them safely, extending the life of the fabric from 5 to 7 years. A protective storage bag is also available.

Close your shade sail immediately. Elicro is not designed to bear the weight of snow: leaving it open risks damaging the winding shaft and the arms. Never open the shade sail if snow has accumulated on the structure.

The Purishade® fabric is guaranteed for 4 years against material defects, stitching faults, and abnormal fading. The frame, motor, and electrical components are covered by the standard 2-year European legal warranty. The warranty does not cover damage caused by severe weather, incorrect installation, or failure to carry out routine maintenance.

Yes. The warranty remains valid with self-installation, provided you follow the supplied instructions carefully and to the letter. Any damage resulting from incorrect installation is not covered. If you are unsure, we recommend our professional installation service.

The warranty starts from the date of purchase, as shown on the invoice. No product registration is required.
